Expert Reviewer Program

Table of Contents

We want the people who fix HVAC systems for a living checking our guides. Expert Reviewers are credentialed HVAC professionals who review Thermostating articles for technical accuracy and add their own take. You get named credit on every article you review, a public expert profile, and a link to your business. It’s free both ways, there’s no contract, and your name only goes on versions you approve.

What you get

  • “Technically reviewed by” credit at the top of every article you review, with your name, title, company and the date.
  • Your Pro take, quoted in the article. One or two sentences on what you’d tell a homeowner reading it, credited to you.
  • A public expert profile with your photo, credentials, company, service area, and every article you’ve reviewed.
  • A link to your business from your profile, under your company name.
  • The Expert Reviewer badge for your website, email signature and proposals.
  • A ready-to-post graphic each time one of your reviews goes live, and a shout-out from our accounts.
  • Your name in front of the right homeowners: the ones reading about the exact problems you fix, deciding whether to call someone.

For HVAC companies

Put your techs’ expertise on the record. “Our technicians are Expert Reviewers for Thermostating.com” is third-party validation for your website and your proposals, and public credit is a real recognition for the people who earn it. Credit reads with your company name, so it builds your brand as well as theirs. Several techs from one company can take part.

What we ask

  • A verifiable credential. At least one of: a state HVAC or mechanical license, EPA Section 608 certification, NATE certification, current manufacturer certification, or an equivalent instructor, engineering or BPI credential. We verify it before your profile goes live.
  • A real review. Work through our checklist on the articles you pick. Most take 20–30 minutes.
  • Disclosure of any brand, dealer or manufacturer relationships. They’re shown on your profile, and we won’t ask you to review comparisons involving those brands.

That’s it. No fee, no minimum, no exclusivity, and no link back required.

How a review works

  1. We send the article, the checklist, and one question for your Pro take. You choose which articles to take on.
  2. You mark up what’s wrong: terminals, voltages, safety boundaries, procedures, anything that doesn’t match how it works in the field.
  3. We make the changes and send you the final version.
  4. You sign off, and your credit goes live. If we don’t make a change you asked for, your name doesn’t go on.

What your review means, and what it doesn’t

Your credit says you checked the page for technical accuracy on the date shown. It doesn’t mean you endorse the products we link to. You don’t pick them, you aren’t paid for them, and the page doesn’t say you recommend them. If we make substantive technical changes later, we send the page back to you before your credit carries forward. Our full editorial standards explain how review fits with the rest of our process.

Who we’re looking for

  • Licensed HVAC contractors and service technicians
  • EPA 608 and NATE-certified technicians
  • HVAC instructors at trade schools and community colleges
  • Mechanical engineers and BPI-certified energy auditors
  • Manufacturer technical trainers, with your affiliation disclosed

Questions

Is there a cost?

No. It’s free both ways. We don’t charge reviewers, we don’t pay them, and we don’t sell placements.

Do I have to link back to Thermostating?

No. We link to you from your profile. If you want to show the badge or mention the program, you’re welcome to, but it’s never required.

How much time does it take?

Most reviews take 20–30 minutes. You choose the articles, and there’s no minimum.

Can I stop anytime?

Yes. Credit on reviews you’ve already done stays with its date, or we’ll remove it if you ask.

Will you edit my Pro take?

Only with your approval. You see the final wording before it publishes.

Can I review any article?

Any article in your area of expertise, except comparisons or buying guides involving brands you have a disclosed relationship with.

Can more than one person from my company take part?

Yes. Each person gets their own profile and credit, all under your company name.
