Carrier Global (ICP)
Heil is one of several HVAC brands manufactured by ICP (International Comfort Products), a subsidiary of Carrier Global. Heil shares factories and mechanical components with Tempstar, Comfortmaker, Arcoaire, and other ICP brands. Carrier Global acquired ICP in 2021; ICP brands are manufactured at the same US facilities as mid-tier Carrier equipment.

What Heil makes
Heil QuietComfort series — Heil’s premium tier. Variable-capacity and two-stage gas furnaces, ACs, and heat pumps. Variable-capacity equipment uses the ICP Ion communicating system; the Ion thermostat is required for full variable-capacity control.
Heil Performance series — Heil’s mid-tier. Two-stage equipment; standard 24V wiring; compatible with any thermostat.
Heil Achievement series — Heil’s entry-level. Single-stage; standard 80% or 95% AFUE furnaces and single-stage ACs.

Is Heil a good brand?
Heil is solid mid-range HVAC equipment from Carrier Global’s ICP manufacturing. The mid-tier Performance series is competitive with Rheem Classic Plus and York LX at the same price point.
What Heil does well:
- Mid-tier value: Heil often undercuts comparable Carrier/Bryant equipment by 10–20% at the same efficiency tier, using the same core manufacturing.
- Parts availability: ICP parts (Heil, Tempstar, Comfortmaker) are widely stocked. Not as broadly distributed as Goodman/Carrier, but generally available same-day at HVAC supply houses in most markets.
- QuietComfort premium: Heil’s QuietComfort variable-capacity equipment is a legitimate premium product with the ICP Ion communicating system. If you’re comparing Heil QuietComfort to Carrier INFINITY, they share the same Carrier Global manufacturing heritage.
Where Heil falls short:
- Brand recognition: homeowners often don’t know the Heil brand; this can affect contractor quoting (some contractors favor brands they can more easily upsell) and resale perception.
- Ion communicating system: the ICP Ion thermostat required for full variable-capacity is less well-known than Carrier’s ComfortLink system. Fewer third-party thermostat options if you want to go communicating.

The rating plate is on the inside of the furnace front panel or the side of the outdoor unit cabinet.
